Born January 27, 1954, in Bethesda, Maryland. Family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, in 1955. Graduated high school in 1971 in West Palm Beach. Moved immediately to Washington, D.C., and spent the next year there working in telephone sales and then as a computer operator for the American Medical College Application Service, all the while regularly marching on the Nixon White House in protest of the war in Viet Nam.
Moved to Israel in 1972 after a side trip to Jamaica. Received Israeli citizenship and changed my name. After Israel, during which time I learned to speak Hebrew and milk cows while living on a kibbutz in the Negev desert, I went to Europe where I ended up playing guitar and singing 'campfire' type music at the Cafe Atlantis, Klosterberg 13, in Basel, Switzerland. I then returned to Israel and lived on various kibbutzim for 9 of the next 13 years, leaving to travel to northern Africa (Egypt 8 times), and all over Europe and Asia. I spent almost a year and a half based in Crouch End in London in the early 1980s.
In the course of my totally undercapitalized lifestyle as a perrenial, peripatetic wanderer, I had occasion to enjoy many different types of employment and trade, some of which are: cow milking, farming (wheat, cotton, corn, oregano, geranium, orange, grapefruit, lemon, lime, avocado, apple, almond, pecan, pistachio, green pepper, potato, marijuana), mechanics (diesel, gasoline, farm), truck driver (dump, lumber), welding, newspaper delivery, fuel station attendant, lifeguard, landscaping & maintenance, machine work, construction (carpentry, concrete, drywall, electrical, plumbing, fencing, pool & spa), heavy equipment operator, livestock (beef cattle & horses), factory work (eyeglass lenses, rubber footwear, furniture), restaurant (bus boy, waiter, bartender, table captain, maître d’, manager), tennis teacher, ballroom dance instructor, medic/first-aid instructor, massage instructor, travel agent, musician (13 instruments), writer (published), photographer (published), scuba instructor, dive guide, English teacher, dive boat captain (100-ton USCG license), medical orderly, psychiatric aide, car dealership lot attendant, taxicab driver, massage therapist (Swedish, Neuromuscular, Thai), chiropractic, computers (design, construction, programming, support, IT, graphic art/design, website design), art gallery manager, office manager, medical/legal proofreader, telephone service technician (installation & repair), sales (incredible variety, too many to list).
I value personal integrity above all else and use my version of the Golden Rule as my personal guideline in life: Always Try To Treat Others The Exact Same Way You'd Like To Be Treated If The Situation Were Reversed. I constantly seek challenges and the opportunity to learn. If it doesn't challenge me, it bores me. |
