Schuttersmaaltijd (archer's meal) to celebrate the Peace of Munster, Bartholomeus van der Helst, June 18, 1648. It is a party with the Amsterdam archers. The reason is the Peace of Munster, the end of the war with Spain. The captains of the civic guard shake hands as peace sign, the drinking horn does the rounds. The armed forces of Amsterdam are happy that the weapons will rest from now on, according to the poem on the drum. |
